Dear Vaga, it is not true that PR cannot buy HDB flats. All PRs regardless from which country can buy HDB hse as long as they form a family nucleus. There are a total of 9 Schemes from which one can buy a HDB flat (citizens). As for non citizens there are 5 Schemes. Do log on to www. hdb.gov.sg for more details abt the available schemes which you Qualify for.
You may have seen advertisements for HDB flats stating "PR not eligible".
PRs can buy HDB flats in any part of the island. The reason why agents state that is because of the lift upgrading or Interium upgrading.(LUP or IUP) . If citizens were to buy, there is a subsidised rate for the LUP or IUP but as for a PR there is no subsidy and you have to bear the full cost.
But PRs are not eligible for HDB loans. You have to go for bank loans if you require.
PRs can buy any kind of condos as well. As long as you are financially eligible.

Hi Sara,
Thanks for your reply. I understand that PR can buy HDB as long as they form a family nucleus such as getting married to another PR or citizen. However, I'm a single PR and I'm considering buying a house because the rental has gone up so much recently. Do you know what houses can a single PR buy? Thanks. |

Dear Vaga, there are no schemes for single PRs at the moment to buy HDB flats. Do you have any siblings who is a PR here? If you do, you can buy with them under SPR SIBLINGS SCHEME. You can walk into any HDB branch office for more clarifications on your status.
You can buy any types of private appartments or condos if you want. |

How much min downpayment to buy private apartment now ?Is the rate same with hdb ?
5% cpf and 5% cash ?
Can PR buy private house alone ? ( below 35 year old )

| I am single PR. age 24. i would like to know that if i want to buy condo in singapore. is it 5% i hve to pay for downpayment? is there anyway that i can do full loan if i have not enough cash in my hand? thank you |

Hi Anonymous..
the 5% cash is the standard payment for the deposit for any buyer who wants to buy the private property in s'pore.. the rest of 5% can come from your CPF..
