Hi all,

If any of you are interested in renting one of these Ame Logistics Lodging units in Boon Keng, FORGET IT! I've been staying here for approximately one month and two weeks, and I must say, it's not been a pleasant experience. The people who live here are predominantly asian expats.

First, let me address the security issues I have faced. On the first day I moved in, my neighbour (an indian expat), complained about having a few hundred dollars stolen from his unit. Shortly after, the police came. Apparently, money was taken from their home and the culprit was not found. The boss, who manages this tiny estate, tried to help things by firing the security guards (who he assumed were the thieves). Who would have thought I myself would encounter a security problem soon after. Since the rainy season started, it has been difficult for clothes to dry when hung in the compound. As many areas are obscured by trees, the best spot to hang clothes would be right outside my unit as that is where the sun shines best. As many other units in this estate patronise the same 'spot' , it has been difficult to constantly keep track of my clothes. Low and behold, as I returned home, I discovered my favourite yellow t-shirt missing. I know you all may be thinking "so what, it's just a t-shirt". Well no, it's not JUST a t-shirt. That t-shirt happens to mean a lot to me as I've had it for years and it was given to me by someone special. Of all the clothes I hung on the poles, only the best one went missing. Not only that, someone has shifted my clothes to another pole, and just drapped it over the pole without stretching it out. I find this incredibly despicable and rude.

So here comes the part where I tell the security guard on duty about my predicament. Guess what he says? " I didn't see anyone come into the compound". Of course he didn't, why would anybody sneak into the compound just to steal one miserable t-shirt? It's definitely an internal misdeed. After that, the silly guard says "if anyone gives it to me, I'll give it to you". Would you give a shirt that you either stole, or mistakenly collected, to the security guard? DUMB. Anyway, he promised to ring the manager the following morning. To no avail, it being Sunday. On Monday, I finally approached the manager regarding this issue, and guess what he did? He feigned helplessness, and asked me to call the BOSS of the estate instead. This is not the first time the manager has pushed any enquiries or issues to the boss.

Right now, the issue is still no resolved. The boss said he'd do his best to help out, what what can he do, really? He said "Singapore's a free country, people can hang their clothes anywhere they want, it's a first come first serve thing". With so many clothes poles situated outside each unit, we're still not entitled to our own poles outside our own units? I do not appreciate his blase attitude towards this issue. So in order to NOT have our things stolen, we ought to buy a clothes dryer (which costs $120) and hang it all indoors? It's already ridiculous that I'm paying $1125 a month to live in a one room, ground floor unit. And now I don't even have privileges to hang my clothes outside my unit?

If given the chance to re-think moving in here, I would not have signed the contract stating that I'll be living here a year. Also, if any of you wish to live here, I seriously urge you to reconsider. There are a million other better places to stay. The management here leaves much to be desired, and they seem only interested in sweet-talking you to sign the contract, pay upfront, and then make a hell lot of noise should you request anything they consider 'out of the ordinary', like an extra bed or so. Before you actually move in, your agent promises you the world. He tells you you can choose to have whatever furniture you want put in, or you can ask the cleaner in the estate to sweep outside your unit. Lies. I've never heard more bulls*hit from any agent.

I hope this is of help to those of you moving in, or intending to.
