| Negotiate with the owner and then move out. Don't waste time now. Better find another place. If you have cash/ CPF, buy a house of your own rather than rent. At least, you can call it home and it is yours. |

| Just ask him back for deposit and move out. If he does not return, you could fill a small claim court ??? and caveat to SLA??? so that other people know he is involving in court related issues . He may not be able to sell his house then.. Just a 2 cents suggestion . You should check it out ... |

Hi Diana.
I am having the same problem too. If the owner is renting the flat from HDB, they are not allowed to let it out for rent. This is because the flat is heavily subsidized. I think you can check this under HDB website under "Renting a unit directly from HDB".
Under the policy, owner that is known to sub-let the place might lose their rights to the place and future HDB apartments (like if they want to get their own unit).
I think to teach these owner a lesson, get another place outside. move all your stuff to the new place and just stay in the unit a while until the HDB guys come again. Best if they confiscate the unit.
I spoke to the HDB people, if they come, plea to them that you are a victim and u need 2-3 weeks to vacate. If you raise the case they might just listen. They hate the owners not the victimised tennants. |
